Our Colored Does

This page was last updated on August 19, 2006.

DER Sassy R16

This is the newest and may be one of the most impressive additions to our colored program in a few years. This doe is a full sister to "DER War Paint" Ennobled. We found this doe's pedigree while searching through a sale catalog for one of the 2006 Production Sales. Recognizing that this doe was a full sister to "DER War Paint", we made the decision to purchase "Sassy" to use in our embryo transfer program. Because we went to the sale with no intensions of purchasing any goats, we were not prepared. It took a while to get her home, but she is here at 2XL.

She is heavy bred at this time, but we are going to be using her as one of our lead colored donors as soon as we get her kidded out. She should be ready to flush by late fall of 2006.

THIS SEASON'S COLORED FLUSH

B/V 35  X  NDR EXTREME GAMBLER

This mating between two beautiful, colored, full South African Boer Goats was made possible due to a deal that we made with our good friend Rena Lynch at Bosque Valley Boer Goats. Earlier this year, we made a deal to flush this beautiful colored South African doe to our colored South African buck, Gambler. We think that by using this pair of outstanding animals, we can produce outstanding offspring for our colored breeding program.

B/V 35 is a beautiful colored South African doe that belongs to Rena Lynch at Bosque Valley Boer Goats. She is a daughter of Texas Classic and RMR-SA-Kalediscope, a daughter of Turu and LSBG Balson's Kijana. B/V 35 was selected for this colored flush based on her breed character, structural correctness, thickness, length, depth of body, and wonderful pedigree. This doe is the type that any breeder would keep in their program. This is why we had to strike a deal with Rena to use this doe in our fall flush. She has everything that we were looking for when searching for the doe to use in our fall flush.

Gambler was purchased in a partnership between ourselves, D&K Boer Goats, and Rocky Springs Farm. He is a big, stout built red and white paint South African buck that is backed by generations of proven genetics.  He has matured into a beautiful herd sire and produced some outstanding kids for all of us in the partnership. Gambler was purchased to become one of the leading building blocks for all of the partner's herds. He has been an asset to all of our colored breeding programs.

Whether colored or traditional, we feel confident that the kids produced from this flush will be building blocks for our breeding programs. The progeny produced from this flush will have pedigrees with Turu 1997 Reserve National Champion, Tabu 1997 National Champion & Ennobled, Tamu Ennobled, LSBG Balson's Kijana 1996 National Champion,  Texas Classic Bronze, 2SIS 324M Ennobled, Powell/Holman 48K Ennobled, Eggstreme Ennobled, and LSBG-SA-G49 1996 National Reserve Champion. This flush produced an outstanding set of kids in the early part of March.

2XL'S SHEEZ ALL THAT

This is a beautiful full South African doeling that we purchased in 2003 to use as one of the building blocks in our Colored South African Embryo Program. We are always looking for new genetics to add to our breeding program. After looking at many good South African does, we accidentally stumbled upon this doeling.  We decided that this young doe has much to offer to our Colored South African Embryo Program. She is a beautiful, long bodied, clean two teated, paint doeling with bone and natural thickness. Note the wide chest floor in this doe and still she has that long, elegant neck that we at 2XL like to see on a brood doe. She carries the genetics of Jake Spoon, Tsjaka, and Codi/Pci on her dam's side and her sire is the offspring of two animals that were imported from South Africa as embryos.

These pictures do not do her justice. These pictures were taken only a few days after we purchased her and moved her to 2XL. We hope to be able to replace these pictures with new ones soon. We were very proud to be able to add this young doeling to our program.

 2XL's Sheez No Gamble

This is a full South African paint doeling that we are very proud of. She is a daughter of Sheez All That and our red South African buck, NDR Extreme Gambler. This doeling has a twin brother that is just a powerful as she is. Look for him in the showring later this year. He is dark red with a white spot on his left side. His name is 2XL's Heez No Gamble. We hope to get pictures of him added to our "Colored Bucks" page soon.

This young doeling is still in the weaning pen, but has the potential to be moved into the showstring soon. We are very impressed with this doe's length, depth, thickness, growth per day of age, and her structural correctness. She has all of the qualities that we look for in brood does and color. It has been said, "The proof is in the puddin". This doe and her twin brothers speak loud and clear about our colored breeding program.

 AGC88 LO BLACK SPLATTER

"Splatter"

We were pleased to be able to add Splatter to our herd of colored does. We were very lucky to be able to add this doe to our gene pool of colored Boer goats. She is a beautiful doe that is structurally correct and stands squarely on a great set of feet and legs. She has a long elegant neck that is only accented by her wide chest floor. We feel lucky to have this doe and are grateful to Mike and Holly Opperman for allowing us the opportunity to purchase her from their family.

She has all of the qualities that we look for in a breeding doe and a great pedigree too. She is also backed by some of the best genetics in the breed. Splatter's pedigree carries the genetics of Boer goats like; Downen L567, Scado, Scale, Nell's Guy Noir, Jet Black Spade,  and 2SIS Pleasant Bantu. With a pedigree like hers, it is easy to see that her beauty and elegance is no accident.

We have hauled and shown Splatter this fall in the Arp High School Animal Science show string. She has gotten lots of attention from other breeders and some outstanding judges. Although Splatter does not fit into the desired color pattern of our breed standards, everyone agrees that she has style and breed character. She was named Reserve Champion Fullblood Doe at the East Texas State Fair in September of 2003.

It is our goal to breed the best goats that we can possibly breed by selecting does and bucks that are backed by proven genetics. Splatter is one of the does that we stumbled up on after searching through many sales and pastures over the last year. We hope that through our constant search for outstanding breeding animals, we will continue to offer outstanding animals both physically and genetically to our customers and friends.

MISS PRISS OF LITTLE LEAGUE

          "Miss  P"

"Miss P" is a solid black full blood doe. She is the lead doe in our colored Boer goat program. We purchased her from Little League Ranch in the fall of 2001. She was bred to Lignite, a linebred black buck. In November of 2001, she kidded a beautiful set of black twins. She had a doe and a buck. Her son, Homer, is our black herd buck. Both of these kids are packed with all of the characteristics that we breed for.

Notice the length, depth and thickness in this black doe. This doe would be outstanding in any herd. She is very feminine and squarely built.  Everyone is looking for females with style and elegance. This doe puts all of that together in a real nice package.

She was bred to "Cody" our paint South African buck in the summer of 2002. She kidded a beautiful black and white paint buck in the fall of 2002. Due to his unique color pattern, we  named him 2XL'S BUCK IN A TUX. This was an outstanding paint buck kid that went on to be the High Selling Buck in our First Annual "Celebrate Summer" Joint Production Sale.

2XL's SHEEZ A CENTERFOLD 132R

"Centerfold"

This is a beautiful black and white fullblood doe that we feel has it all. She is long, thick, deep, elegant, and has breed character. She is a product of a breeding between one of our lead black does, Miss P, and one of one of our outstanding SA paint bucks, Cody. We use these crosses often in our breeding program to insert new genetics into our black program. Progeny like this doe is the reason that we keep crossing these lines. This same cross produced, "2XL's Buck In A Tux", the High Selling Buck in the Celebrate Summer Joint Production Sale in 2003.

We feel that "Centerfold" will work in any colored program. We are planning to breed her to our newest SA red buck, Gambler, this spring. We feel that this cross will once again use the genetics of two entirely different pedigrees to produce outstanding progeny.

MS 6S Zula 30

"Memaw"

This is one of our full blood red does that we would stand beside any traditional doe. She has the size, scale, and frame to be competitive in any situation. She also has that elegant appearance that everyone is looking for in Boer does. She is a half South African doe and a Zula daughter. Her dam is an own daughter of Oak Bluff Casey.

We purchased this doe with a traditional doeling at her side. We feel that this purchase was a sound investment for both our traditional and our colored herd. We call her "Memaw" because we purchased her from Mr. and Mrs. Spoonemore of Celeste, Texas. Everyone call Mrs. Spoonemore, "Memaw".

This doe is one of the older does in our breeding herd, but she is still young enough to be very productive. She has been bred to our South African paint buck, Cody. We feel that this combination of powerful genetics should produce outstanding colored fullblood kids. Memaw and Cody produced a beautuful set of twin doelings in December of 2003. We have sold one of these twins and will be keeping the other one in our colored breeding herd.

2XL's Sheez Black As Midnight

"Midnight"

We purchased this young full blood black doe from Mr. and Mrs. John Lindsay of Cushing, Texas. She has the genetics of Little League Ranch and some South African breeding as well. She has NBBG Tsjaka and Niko's Shadow on the top side. This doe is a deep bodied doe that is very squarely designed.

Everyone who sees this doe loves her. Even those wonderful breeders who think that all good Boer goats are white with a red head. She is on our show string and will continue to be there regardless of her color. Midnight placed  14th out of a class of 35 does at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 2003, in spite of her color. She may not ever win a class, but she gets a lot of attention wherever we go.

Midnight has been bred to the red South African buck, Gambler, that we own in partnership with my parents, D&K Boers, and our friends and sale partners John and Peggy Taylor at Rocky Springs Farm. This mating produced two beautiful buck kids in the summer of 2004. One of them is a dark chocolate and the other one is black. We were pleased to have two young bucks with these black genetics to add use as a breeding buck with our black does. We feel certain that one of these bucks will be kept to add to our colored breeding program here at 2XL.

SGF P277 Miss Callie's Pride

"Callie"

This full blood red doe was purchased from Silvergate Farms in the fall of 2002. She is very thick and squarely built. "Callie" is out of Silvergate Farms' buck "Paint Me Proud" who is a son of Kallie Kohls-York's buck "O'Radar". Her dam is a daughter of "KRI Canadian Hunter". For those breeders who are interested in the South African goats, this doe is 11/16 South African. Silvergate Farms is doing an excellent job of producing these colored goats that have all of the quality that their traditional goats are known for.

Callie is another one of the doelings that broke out of the weaning pen and into the buck pen in the fall of 2002. This set of does were in with the buck for eight hours and then separated. Callie was one of the best weight gainers in this set of weaning does and in the early spring of 2003 it became obvious why. She kidded twin does by Homer in April of 2003. Both of these little does are solid black,

She has been bred to our paint South African buck, Cody.. We felt that this mating would produce colored progeny that would offer a unique genetic package. Callie produced a beautiful paint doe in the summer of 2004.

2XL's Miss LLBG Classy In Black

"Classy"

Mr. and Mrs. Powell bred this full blood solid black doe. We purchased her during the summer of 2002. She combines some of the best of Powell breeding and South African genetics. This doe was purchased to add that South African influence to our colored herd.

This doe was bred to Homer in the fall of 2002 and kidded black twins in the early spring of 2003.We were very pleased with this set of twins. We sold one of her daughters in the Fall Sale-A-Bration Sale and she was one of the high selling lots.

2XL's Miss LLBG Fancie N Black

"Fancie"

She is just what her name implies. She is fancy and she is solid black. She is another solid black full blood doe and her pedigree reads like the "Who's Who" of the black Boer goats.

This doe was bred in the fall of 2002 and kidded in the spring of 2003. This doe was bred to Homer this time and kidded a set of black twins in the spring of 2003. This doe and Homer produced an outstanding set of twins. One of the doelings from this mating, 2XL Homer's Black Fancie, was the high selling lot in the Fall Sale-A-Bration Sale in November of 2003. We appreciate our sale partners and friends at Rocky Springs Farm for their faith in our breeding program and this young doeling. Fancie will be added to their already outstanding set of colored flush does.

2XL's Miss LLBG Sassy N Black

"Sassy"

This fourth-generation full blood black doe is all Powell breeding. She is long bodied and structurally correct. She is another doe that we purchased primarily to breed to the South African bucks and then use her doe kids back in our colored breeding program. We appreciated the opportunity to purchase colored does with these genetics.

Sassy was bred when we purchased her and did an excellent job of raising her kids as a yearling. We have debated on the genetic possibilities that are available here at 2XL and made the decision to breed this doe to our full South African paint buck, Cody. We are very proud of our solid black goats, but we are going to attempt to produce a set of black and white fullblood kids for some of our customers and friends who prefer the paints.

One of the things that we enjoy most about breeding colored Boer goats is the challenge of selecting breeding animals to be mated. We look at the animals' structure and pedigree, make decisions based on data, breed the animals, wait five months, and then love whatever we get. In some cases, we have actually gotten what we were planning to get.

2XL's Miss I Like Em Black

"Ila"

If you have not figured it out by now, we put it into words. We do like em black. This young full blood black doe is out of a half South African buck that the Powells own. She is one of the black does in our herd that is one generation closer to where we are trying to go in our program.

This doe was shown on our show string in 2003 and we are expecting great things from her. Ila was shown at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in March of 2003. Although she did not win the class, we felt proud when the judge kept her in the ring after he made his first two cuts. She stayed in the ring into the top twenty does out of a class of 45.

Ila is a very long bodied structurally correct doe that has the eye appeal and elegant look that so many people are looking for today. She has the added thickness of the South African genetics that are found in her pedigree.

She was bred to our South African paint buck, Cody, to kid in the spring of 2004. This mating produced a beautiful set of black headed twins. One doeling and one buck. They are both structurally correct and have all of the qualities that we strive to produce in our goats whether they are colored or  traditional.

Pedigree

2XL's Painted Perfection R141

"Perfection"

Perfection is a beautiful fullblood paint doe that is out of "Memaw" and "Cody". She is a product of the mating between two of our lead colored goats. We offered a "buyers choice" on this doe and her twin sister in our Celebrate Summer II Sale in June of 2004. The high bidder chose to take the twin sister and that left us with this beautiful doe. The twins were identical in every way. They both had size and scale along with the same color pattern. We would have been happy to keep either doeling in our breeding program.

She has thickness, length, depth, breed character and color. She bundles all of the qualities that we breed for in a neat eye appealing package. Her pedigree is also packed with outstanding goats. This is a young doe that we will be using in our program for years to come.

This picture was taken in the pasture during the cold weather and does not do her justice. Keep an eye on this page and watch her mature into a lead brood doe. We have exposed her to "Recoil", one of our new SA traditional bucks. We feel sure that we will use this doe and her progeny back in our colored program in the future.

TSEF Red Holly

"Suzanne"

This is a beautiful red fullblood doe that we purchased from Tim and Suzanne Sowell in our First Annual "Celebrate Summer" Joint Production Sale. She is a large framed doe that stands squarely on her feet and legs. She has a beautiful udder and teats. She is one of those does that has a long neck that comes high out of a good set of shoulders.

This picture was taken right after bringing this doe home and it does not do her justice. We hope to be replacing this picture as soon as she gets settled into our herd. She has so many great qualities to offer to our colored breeding program. We are pleased with the purchase of this doe and we are looking for great things from her.

She has a pedigree that is full of colored animals. We purchased this doe with the thought of using her with our full South African paint buck, Cody. This mating produced a set of paint kids. Both are correct in every way.

KALR Canadian Lady Cornhusker

"Red Randi"

This is a red fullblood doe that we purchased in the spring of 2003. We were impressed with this doe when we saw her and were even more impressed when we saw her pedigree. She was bred by Kallie-Harrie Reds. She is double bred JAS Eternal and carries the genetics of such  animals as KRI Canadian Hunter, Rock Hollow Red Cloud, R27 Tarzan, Sir Red, and Staracres First Lady.

She has the qualities that we demand in our breeding does and is red too. She has an excellent pedigree that is packed with animals that have been proven to produce quality. She is very balanced and stands squarely on her feet and legs. This doe is long bodied and this length is accented by a beautiful front that is toped off with a long elegant neck.

This is another doe that we purchased with the thought of breeding her to our South African paint buck, Cody. We feel that this combination should produce outstanding colored kids. We are excited to own this doe and the possibilities of producing outstanding fullblood colored kids from this outstanding doe and Cody next year.

2XL's Miss West Fall

"Westy"

This is a powerful young American Pureblood doe. She is a black headed doe with size and scale. This doe carries the genetics of SGF KF42 "Ennobled", Mojo Magic "Ennobled", and double bred Sasquatch "Ennobled". This doeling carries the  genetics of some of the most proven goats in the breed.

She has length, depth, thickness, and femininity. She stands squarely on a good set of feet and legs. She has that beautiful chest floor that we have based our breeding program around. This doe is a triplet and her sisters are equally as nice. We are planning to use this powerful doe back in our black breeding program.

Pedigree

2XL's Tsjaka's Miss Cherry

"Cherry"

We purchased this 3/4 doe from Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay. She is a red paint and should do well in our colored program. She carries the genetics of Tsjaka (Ennobled) and Niko's Shadow. She is a half sister to "Midnight" and "Aggie".

She is another doe that we have bred to "Tug". She kidded a really nice set of twin bucks in the spring of 2003. Cherry did a great job of raising her kids this year and we are expecting them to do well in the show ring. Both of her wethers were sold as show wether prospects this year.

We have bred Cherry to our colored paint South African buck, Cody,  this fall to produce another set of outstanding colored kids in the spring of 2004. This mating produced a set of triplets, two bucks and a doe.

Two Pine's Ranch Little Red

"Lil Red"

This is a  beautiful red fullblood doe that we purchased in early 2004 from Two Pines Ranch. She brought a totally new genetic package into our breeding program. She carries South African and New Zealand breeding. This doe is young and has the potential to be one of the lead red brood does for us. She has length, depth, thickness, and breed character. This doe stands squarely on a good set of feet and legs. We feel sure that she will be an asset to our already strong set of red Boer goats.

This doe was bred to a traditional buck when we bought her. She produced a beautiful set of traditional twin does from that breeding. We have bred her to our SA red buck, NDR Extrme Gambler, for a set of early spring of 2005 kids. We are anxiously awaiting this kidding season.

This picture was taken while she was on the move in the pasture. She is in her working clothes and has just weaned a set of twins. We hope to get a better updated picture of her soon.
